The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Villains

On April 4th, a new trailer was released for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 that showcased the villains for the game. While it was safe to assume the movie’s antagonists, Electro and Rhino, would show up in the game, it was surprising to see the batch of baddies the new trailer revealed.

First up there’s Wilson Fisk A.K.A. the Kingpin, sporting a design similar to that seen in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, as well as a rather oddly shaped head. Based on his appearances in the trailer, Fisk will most likely be taking his regular role of billionaire/crime boss, speaking out against Spider-Man publicly. Based on some dialogue later on in the trailer, Fisk may also be hiring many of the game’s exclusive villains to hunt down and kill Spider-Man.

Following Fisk’s appearance we have Felicia Hardy, otherwise known as Black Cat. Unlike Fisk, who is a new addition to The Amazing Spider-Man game universe, Black Cat made an appearance in the original game as the boss of a bank robbery mission. Her brief appearance doesn’t seem to hint at much, other than describing the Kingpin’s role: that she was hired by the Kingpin to kill him. Her design seems to have been slightly updated from the original game, looking more like a mercenary outfit.

Up next in our villainous array is one of the web-head’s classic foes; the Green Goblin. All of the Goblin’s appearances in the trailer showcase him battling Spider-Man, meaning that he’ll most likely be one of the more dangerous foes in the game. The Goblin looks to be about Peter Parker’s age, so he’s probably had an identity change from the regular Norman Osborn to his son, Harry Osborn. He’s also had a design change, looking more technological.

Classic Spider-Man foe Carnage also makes a very brief appearance, showing Cletus Kasady breaking through glass as the clearly visible Carnage symbiote crawls up his arm. His importance in the game remains to be seen, but he would easily be the most dangerous villain in the line-up.

Finally we have Kraven the Hunter, who spends most of his time in the trailer narrating. Kraven is most likely one of the villains hired by the Kingpin to hunt down Spider-Man, and it can probably be assumed that he won’t show up until late game. Kraven sports a slight design change, but it’s not as extreme as some of the others, because it’s still similar to his original design.

While more villains may be revealed for the game later, with less than a month until its release date I highly doubt it.
