EA To Shut Down Online Servers for Over 50 Games

EA just announced today that they'll be shutting down online servers for a lot of their games, due to the closure of Gamespy, which was the provider of their online servers in the first place. There are more than 50 games they have listed that online will be removed from, but the ones that are on Nintendo consoles specifically are the ones listed below taken from EA's list itself:

  • Bejeweled 2 — WiiWare
  • Dracula: Undead Awakening — WiiWare
  • Dragon Sakura — DS
  • FIFA Soccer 08 (KOR) — Wii
  • FIFA 08 — DS
  • FIFA 09 — DS
  • FIFA 10 — DS
  • FIFA Street 3 — DS
  • GREEN DAY: ROCK BAND — Wii
  • Madden NFL 08 — DS
  • Madden NFL 09 — DS
  • MySims Party — Wii
  • MySims Racing — DS
  • MySims SkyHeroes — Wii and DS
  • Need for Speed: ProStreet — DS
  • Need For Speed: Undercover — DS
  • SimCity Creator — Wii
  • Skate It — DS
  • Sneezies — WiiWare
  • Spore Creatures — DS
  • Spore Hero Arena — DS
  • The Beatles: Rock Band — Wii
  • Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 — DS
It's a shame to see the service gone down, but it's not too late for EA to start looking for substitutes for online hosting servers, but it wouldn't be really worth it at all for games like these since the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection is going down anyways, which will terminate all Wi-Fi Wii/DS modes or services other than the Wii Shop channel.

Be sure to keep up to date with the Nintendo Alliance for more news on any more services affected by GameSpy, or Nintendo news in general!
